Guess what? There are 181 days until Christmas! Which means that NBC’s Christmas Cantata will be shortly before that. December 2 & 3 this year. YES! We’ll be holding the Cantata on 2 nights: Friday & Saturday.
Why the rush to advertise? Because Myra Schmidt, NBC’s Music Director, needs your talents! If you’re interested in helping out with any of the following music opportunities, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
CALLING ALL MUSICIANS
This year, Myra is planning on having a band as part of the music. She is looking for people who play the following instruments:
- Bass Clarinet
- French Horn
- Saxophone – Alto & Tenor
Instrumentalists must be able to read music and have at least 3 years of playing experience. All musicians will need to have an interview & try-0ut with Myra before the first rehearsal so that she can assess their level of ability.
Rehearsals are planned for Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. starting September 7 in classroom 101 at NBC. Mondays could be an option instead if the majority of instrumentalists prefer this day.
As in the past, all Nipawin and area community members are invited to join the choir. Anyone ages 14+ are invited to join! No experience necessary! If you love to sing and want to be part of the Christmas Cantata choir, come on out! Don’t know whether you’re a soprano, alto, tenor or bass? No worries, just let her know and she’ll try to meet with you before the first rehearsal date to assess your voice and put you where you’ll be most comfortable.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. starting September 8 in classroom 101 at NBC.
Are you in grades 2-7? This year, there are a couple songs that call for a children’s choir! Any kids interested in being part of this part of the choir, please email Myra as well. Rehearsal dates are TBA but will probably start in October.
If you know of community members that would be interested in joining the choirs or orchestra, pass this info on to them.
