2019 marks NBC’s 30th Annual Encore Retreat - a retreat designed for those who are age 55+. Each year our retreat brings with it the anticipation of renewing acquaintances and making new friends. These retreats are designed so that personal refreshment and spiritual renewal are blended with learning and fellowship in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Keynote Speaker: David Olson

This year's speaker is Dr. David Olson. He is serving at the Waldheim Mennonite Brethren Church in Waldheim Saskatchewan as Associate pastor of care, discipleship and counseling. Prior to this ministry, he taught at Prairie Bible College in the departments of Pastoral Ministry and New Testament studies for 11 years. He has also pastored churches in Alberta, Minnesota, North Dakota and Oregon. Other ministries include teaching in conferences in Europe and Canada as well as doing transitional pastoral ministries.

David and Karen have been married for 50 years and have four adult children. Tony is married to Melody and serve at Black Forest Academy in Germany. Kristy is married to Paul and live in Drumheller, Alberta. Kathy is married to Jason and live in Edmonton, Alberta. Kari is married to Mike and live in Mooresville, North Carolina. They have 8 grandchildren.

Being People of Faith: Legacy Investments that Matter

We will focus on 2 Corinthians 8:7: “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” (NIV)

Dr. Peter Barber - “A MORNING IN THE CLASSROOM”

This is Peter's first year teaching at NBC, however he and his family have quickly settled into life at the college.

He is pleased to be leading two morning sessions for you at this year’s Encore Retreat.

Wednesday Drama:

The Bridge of Blood
Carl & Brenda Ens from Aylsham, SK will present the story of 5 young men who went to Ecuador in the 1950’s to serve as missionaries.

Workshops

This year there will be opportunity to choose from one of three workshops on Wednesday morning:

Running the Race Well: Leaving a spiritual foundation for the generations to come with Larry Rempel

Charitable Gifting As a Part of Your Estate Plan with Kent Little

Walking Alongside a Spouse with Dementia with Bob Wahl

You can sign up for one of these sessions when you arrive at the retreat.

Features

Music
Throughout the week our retreaters will have an opportunity to minister to one another in music. Please come prepared to participate with both instruments and voices.

Campus Activities
For those interested in handcrafts, we will offer two workshops.

Horseshoe pits, crokinole boards, board games, and bocce balls will be available for those interested in some friendly competition. Feel free to bring your own equipment or games to add to the fun.

Special Features
There will be an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing houseboat cruise on the scenic Saskatchewan River. Take in a game of mini-golf at the beautiful Regional Park.

Optional Activities
Our campus is just 10 minutes from superb walleye fishing and an excellent 18-hole golf course.

Accommodations

Dorms

Rooms are available in our student dorms for any guests needing accommodations.  There are two single beds in each room.  Guests can relax and visit with each other in the central lounge located in each dorm.  You will need to bring your own bedding and towels.

RV Spots

If you choose to stay in your RV for the week, there are electrical hook ups available for you.

Please indicate on your registration what type of accommodations will require.

Standard Plan

Includes accommodations and all meals from Monday supper to Friday lunch.

Couples $375    •    Singles $225

Commuter Plan

Retreat sessions and activities, refreshment breaks, meals. Does not include accommodation.

Whole Week - $150/person    •    One Day - $85/person
