June 4-8, 2018

2018 marks NBC’s 29th Annual Encore Retreat - a retreat designed for those who are age 55+. Each year our retreat brings with it the anticipation of renewing acquaintances and making new friends. These retreats are designed so that personal refreshment and spiritual renewal are blended with learning and fellowship in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Keynote Speaker: Russ Wilson

Russ Wilson is the Canada West Regional Director for the Associated Gospel Churches. He has held this position for the last four years. Prior to that Russ pastored a few different churches in Western Canada—most recently as the Lead Pastor at Cornerstone Church in Saskatoon. Russ has also pastored in Terrace, BC, Canmore, AB, and Maryfield, SK. Russ has spoken at numerous conferences here in western Canada and he loves to speak at Men’s events and be involved in Men’s Ministry. The other activity that Russ thoroughly enjoys is spending time on a golf course with other lovers of the game.

Russ and Sue have been married for 39 years. They have three adult children, Noah married to Jennifer, Laura-Mae married to Byron and their youngest daughter, Talitha. They are blessed with 5 grandchildren. Russ and Sue attend Willow Park Church in Kelowna where they actively serve in various ways.

Theme: Life Lessons from Habakkuk

This powerful little book opens the door for us to learn life lessons about prayer, the character and sovereignty of God, suffering, as well as submission in challenging circumstances. We will unpack all three chapters over our time together. Come and let’s learn together as we open up Habakkuk.

Since coming to NBC, David’s primary responsibility has been as an Instructor in Bible and Church History.

He is pleased to be leading two morning sessions for you at this year’s Encore Retreat.

Concert: Hutchisons

Angela, Chris, and Amy Hutchison are siblings who grew up singing out of the hymnbook, and used to travel and sing together as a family, sharing their love for God through music. Chris now serves as pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church here in Nipawin. His sisters work and serve in Regina. He looks forward to having his sisters join him for an evening together of song and story.

NEW: Workshops

We are excited to offer a brand new feature at this year’s retreat. During one of the morning sessions we will offer the following two workshops:

For the ladies:  Older Women Likewise with Lorenda Friesen
We will look at the Titus 2 model of living for women especially as we mature in years. This will be a practical session with take home biblical concepts to apply that can affect the generations to come.

For the men: Retirement or Refiring & Retooling with Robert Russell
During this session we will look at the promises, some resources, and practical guidelines that go along with finishing well.

Throughout the week our retreaters will have an opportunity to minister to one another in music. Please come prepared to participate with both instruments and voices.

Campus Activities
For those interested in handcrafts, we will offer two workshops.

Horseshoe pits, crokinole boards, board games, and bocce balls will be available for those interested in some friendly competition. Feel free to bring your own equipment or games to add to the fun.

Special Features
