Job Description – Associate Pastor
Youth Ministries
Overview
– To develop and manage the Youth Ministry of Faith Baptist Church; its vision, mission, purpose and strategies to be consistent with overall core values of Faith Baptist Church.
– Shall be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Youth Ministry.
Regular Responsibilities
– Will provide weekly Bible studies for youth.
– Will personally provide special activities at least 3 weekends a month (September – June). Additional events may be facilitated by leaders or parents.
– Oversee and, when available, provide visible support in Senior and Junior High Sunday School Classes.
– Oversee and, when available, provide visible support to the Quiz Meet Ministry.
– Oversee and, when available, provide visible support to the Youth Worship team (when existent).
– Be available for pulpit supply approximately once every two months or as needed.
– Attend staff meetings, affirming fellow staff members through prayer and encouragement.
– Keep the Senior Pastor well informed on the condition of the ministry; meet together regularly for mentoring in ministry.
– Give a monthly written report on ministries you are responsible for, to be included in the Church Ministries Report to the Elders.
– Excluding days off, maintain daily office hours. When operating away from the office during regular office hours inform the administrative assistant.
– Attend Elders meetings.
– Participate, as needed, in general pastoral responsibilities: services, weddings, funerals, baptisms, counselling and visitation.
General Objectives
– Develop annual ministry themes, objectives, plans, events, and calendars for ministry scope.
– Oversee effective implementation of a youth ministry specific budget.
– Recruit a team of leaders for youth ministry.
– Conduct regular leaders meetings with the objectives of:
o Working together and brainstorming how to best minister to the youth.
o Creating a consistent avenue for constructive feedback for the leaders and for the Youth Pastor.
o Training the leaders, providing them with the resources and support necessary for a successful ministry.
o Praying together for the youth.
– Evaluate effectiveness and purpose of Youth Ministry and give a report to Elders each summer.
– Research and establish curricula to be used for all youth ministries, emphasizing but not limited to apologetics, personal evangelism, and Bible doctrine. Value placed on teaching the whole of Scripture, while making opportunity to discuss common youth-related difficulties biblically.
– Develop leadership skills in both Senior and Junior High Youth.
– Provide opportunities for student discipleship, mentoring, and outreach missions.
– Maintain appropriate personal contact with students.
– Nurture parental support through clear, and timely communication.
– Provide opportunities for youth during school breaks (when feasible).
– Partner with parents in the discipleship of their children.
Complete any additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Board of Elders

3. developing strong personal relationships with individual youth.
4. applying the vision/mission/values of Faith Baptist Church to the youth ministry.
5. prioritizing and multi-tasking while giving attention to details.
The Youth Pastor must …
1. have a heart for leading our youth to a Christian commitment, discipleship, and active ministry.
2. meet the Biblical requirements for an elder from 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
3. possess strong team building and leadership skills.
4. exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in his character.
5. possess a strong Biblical foundation.
6. be in agreement with the Faith Baptist Church Statement of Faith and Church Covenant.

Other important considerations and desirable qualities are as follows:
Interpersonal Skills:
1. Be a person with strong relational skills, approachable, “down to earth”.
2. Be a good communicator both orally and through written communications.
3. Have a particular passion/ability to relate to and work with youth.
Organization Requirements:
1. Be able to communicate effectively to a broad range of age groups within the Church body.
2. Be able to organize and conduct youth events, youth leadership planning sessions and youth leadership training.
Educational Requirements:
Preference will be given to individuals possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministries or a related field.
Experience:
Preference will be given to those with experience in Youth Ministry or related fields.
