First Baptist Church Olds is looking for a lead pastor who is called to preach the Word of God (2 Tim 4:1-2), meets the biblical qualifications of an elder (Titus 1, 1 Tim 3), and is equipped to lead well as he shepherds the people of God (1 Pet 5:1-3, Acts 20:28).
Our mission at First Baptist Church is “to reproduce disciples of Jesus Christ in Olds and around the world who have a passion for God and a love for all people.” We are seeking the Lord for a lead pastor who will provide leadership and oversight to the ministry of First Baptist Church to accomplish the church’s mission, with a focus to equip the pastoral team, elders, and congregation to do the work of the ministry.
We expect that our lead pastor will give himself primarily to the faithful preaching and teaching of God’s Word. We are very much looking for an expository teacher who will take us verse by verse through the Word of God. While styles may vary, the truth of God and His word must be the heart of the pastor’s preaching.
The lead pastor provides leadership to our multi-pastor team of three men. Our church governance structure is congregational, with an Elder-led leadership board, and separate Deacons’ groups overseeing various aspects of church ministry. All our pastors are members of the Elders’ board.
Requirements:
- The pastor shall be in agreement with the Statement of Faith of FBC Olds
- Education: Candidates with a Master’s degree (i.e. M. Div., M. Th., MRE) preferred (an emphasis on original languages is an asset)
- Experience: experience with a multi-pastoral staff is an asset
- Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and education will be discussed with candidates as we move through the hiring process.
