Richmond Park Pastor of Student and Children’s Ministry:

Ministry Description

 

 

Purpose:

To develop and implement strategies and programs that create a loving, fun atmosphere where the youth, children and young adults of Brandon and area are accepted and welcomed – the purpose is for them to have a growing and deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

Ministry Expectations:

 

1.           Provide Leadership to the Youth Ministry (50%).

a.            Plan and facilitate weekly youth events, including Bible Studies and Youth Sunday School.

b.            Foster Youth Support teams.

c.            Give support to the youth and their families.

d.            Communicate with the larger church body what is happening with the youth group through various social media outlets and on Sunday Morning.

 

2.           Provide Support in Children’s Ministry Programming (25%).

a.            Along with the parents, plan and help facilitate Tweens events.

b.            Attend and be a support to those leading the midweek Club2Go program.

c.            Be a resource for the Children’s Sunday School.

d.            Lead and help coordinate Adventure Day Camp (month of July).

 

3.           Provide Leadership to the Young Adult Ministry (25%).

a.            Develop relationships with the young adults of Richmond Park.

b.            Facilitate bi-weekly Bible Study for the young adults.

c.            Help plan social events for young adults.

 

4.           General Ministry responsibilities:

a.            Faithfully attend church services and other church activities.

b.            Network with other youth and children’s pastors and parachurch organizations.

c.            Participate in Brandon Ministerial Events when available and appropriate.

d.            Participate in Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba events when available and appropriate, including but not limited to Western Pastors get togethers, Pastoral Retreat and Assembly.

e.            Seek out spiritual growth opportunities through things like Church Renewal, Seminars, and further education.

f.             Other additional duties as may be assigned as needed and giftings present themselves.

 

Personal Behavior:

The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is to be a born-again Follower of Jesus who has been baptized on the confession of faith in Jesus Christ; they are to live in accordance with a 1 Timothy 3 lifestyle.

a.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is to embrace and adhere to the Confession of Faith of the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

b.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is to continue to nurture her/his personal spiritual relationship, including spending regular time in prayer, and in the study of God’s Word.

c.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is encouraged to develop life-giving relationships to nurture, grow and enhance their spiritual, mental, and emotional health.

 

Qualifications:

a.            Education and/or experience pertaining to youth and children’s ministry considered an asset.

b.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is to have a love for Youth, Children and Young Adults.

c.            The Spiritual Gifts of: leadership, teaching, administration, grace and mercy considered an asset.

d.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is expected to fulfill the Mennonite Brethren Conference Credentialing process within the first 2 years of ministry if not already completed.

e.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is expected to be a member of the Richmond Park Church.

 

Accountability and Communication:

The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry is accountable to the Lead Pastor and through them, the Visionary Board.

a.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry will meet with the Lead Pastor on a regular basis. The purpose of these meetings is for mentoring, accountability; to support and encourage one another.

b.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry will submit written reports and meet with the Visionary Board upon request.

c.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry will attend congregational meetings and provide reports when requested.

d.            The Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry will be in regular communication with the Office Administrator for encouragement and support.

 

Evaluation Process:

An evaluation will be conducted by the Lead Pastor and the Visionary Board after the first six months and then yearly. The evaluation process is done to encourage the Pastor of Student Children’s Ministry and enhance their ministry.

 

Salary:

This position is full-time. Compensation based on level of education and experience.
