What to Bring:

NBC provides the dorm room basics for all dorm students; however there are several additional things required, or recommended, that students bring, as well as some items that are not permitted. Please see below for detailed information.

Provided for dorm students:

  • Single bed
  • Desk - with built-in drawers
  • Desk chair
  • Closet / wardrobe
  • Bookshelves
  • Waste basket
  • Window coverings
  • Laundry facilities (shared)
  • Washroom / shower facilities (shared)
Bedding and Accessories:
  • Sheets (for twin bed)
  • Pillow & pillowcase
  • Blanket / quilt / comforter
  • Alarm clock
Personal Care / Grooming:
  • Towels and face cloth
  • Bathrobe
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, etc.)
  • Hair care products and appliances
    • Note: electric curling/straightening irons should have auto-shutoff
Clothing and Accessories:
  • Formal attire - for banquets and ceremonies
  • Winter wear - coat, snow pants, boots, etc.
  • Adequate footwear (dress shoes, casual shoes, etc.)
  • Athletic clothing and equipment (optional - see Community Life for more information on athletic activities)
  • NOTE: we ask that you read the student handbook (Appendix B & C) before packing your clothes in order to comply with NBC's dress code.  Please contact the college if you are uncertain about any of the dress code.
Laundry and Cleaning:

Room Decor and Storage:
  • Throw pillows
  • Posters - hang with sticky tack ONLY
  • Desk lamp
  • Desk chair (optional - basic chair provided)

  • Printer (REQUIRED)
  • Surge protector / power bar

  • NOTE: please read the student handbook for more details on the expectations and requirements regarding computer and printer use
    Other:
    • Bible
    • School supplies (pens, pencils, binders, notebooks, etc.)
    • Any musical instrument you want to play
    • Medicine (Ibuprofen, Tylenol, cough syrup, etc.)
    • ID (drivers license, health care card, etc.)
    • Snacks

      What NOT to bring:

      • TV
      • Large furniture
      • Weapons (guns, knives)
      • Candles or incense
      • Cleaning supplies (broom, dust pan, vacuum, chemicals, etc.)
      • Space heaters
      • Kitchen appliances / hot plates
        • NOTE: coffee makers and electric kettles are permitted - the dorm lounge is equipped with a fridge and microwave, and meals are provided for dorm students in the dining hall
