Students who have a passion to glorify God through music are given an opportunity to audition for FaceDown, NBC’s touring praise & worship band. In house, the band practices regularly and leads music at our annual three60five youth retreat in addition to occasional chapels. There is a key external focus where FaceDown travels to churches, schools, and youth groups over the year, with an additional 8-10 day tour following grad in the spring. Team members will grow musically, in their understanding of worship and serving the church, and will see themselves grow in confidence and capability to serve in many musical and teamwork capacities moving forward.
Students who desire to share the Gospel through the art form of theatre will be able to audition for the NBC drama team Living proof. The goal of the team is to share the Gospel and honor God through the beautiful words of scripture done in a theatrical form, traveling to churches, schools, and performing for NBC during Cantata, dessert theatre, campus days, and other events. Students will grow in their understanding of acting, leadership skills, how to praise the Lord through the arts, and how to serve in the church.
NBC Students have opportunity in the fall to join a 20-40 voice choir together with Nipawin community members who present a Christmas musical program under the direction of NBC Music Director Myra Schmidt. In addition to choir, students may also have opportunity to play instruments as part of a Cantata band. NBC’s Living Proof drama team typically performs as part of this event, but there are occasionally other acting roles available for NBC students to audition for. And, of course, anyone with decorating skills is welcome to help transform the gym into a Christmas wonderland!
Typically a few student-led music teams take turns leading students and staff in worship through song in our daily chapels. These teams are made up at the beginning of the year by the Music Director depending on interest. There is also some direction given to grow students in their understanding of leading music well in a church setting.
